Kelab Seni Filem Malaysia Presents Malaysian Shorts
I was reluctant at first whether should I make my way to Help Institute on the 19th March to catch the 1st screening of Malaysian Shorts for this year. Was at the office settling down with some work after a really long week travelling to Hawaii with my family and right after I got back home went off shooting for my next project, Nasi Lemak Dina at Janda Baik.
So I decided in the end to GO. Got there, a lot of unfamiliar faces. Felt out of place, :), then I met director, Amir Muhammad greeting everyone. Cool!
Quite a small theater, and it's packed with students, indie filmmakers and people. Exciting indeed! Glad that I made it here.
On with the show! 10 shorts screened. 3 of which are BMW Shorties finalist and winner. 3 of which I voted at the end of the screening which I really enjoyed watching. Inspiring as I know myself am capable of doing something like that. I will attempt!
The 3 shorts I voted were:-
1. Kongsi Dalam Gelap (Melissa Saila / 2007 / Malaysia / 11m20s)
2. K-Hole (Zahir B. Omar / 2007 / Malaysia / 16m) **BMW Shorties Winner
3. Westbound (Kubhaer T. Jethwani / 2007 / Malaysia /18m)
The order above was ironically are the best voted by the audiences. Here are the rest of the shorts that were shown.
4. Hello Goodbye (Chi Too / 2007 / Malaysia / 5m29s)
5. Vroom-Vroom & Boot-Boot (Law Gwo Yunn / 2007 / Malaysia / 5m10s)
6. Girl Disconnected (Edmund Yeo / 2006 /Australia-Malaysia / 14m)
7. Roda-Roda (Akashdeep Singh / 2007 / Malaysia / 1m41s)
8. Bas Ajaib (Adam Raslan / 2005 / Malaysia / 6m)
9. Idiot Nation (Tan Meng Yoe / 2007 / Malaysia / 9m)
10. Minus (Chris Chong Chan Fui / 2000-2003 / Canada-Malaysia / 3m)
Malaysian shorts will be happening again probably in the next quarter. All the best to everyone and hoping for best to come!

Am really glad to know that you are inspired and enjoyed the screening...:) hope to see your work there in the next screening, k?
Thanks for inviting in the first place. My work will not be up there so soon. Quality works takes time, for me at least. Some ideas need to mature and need to learn from alot of directors out there. In search of my personal style.
If you really love those videos from BMW Shorties... Lets come and join us in BMW Shorties Screening this coming 26&27 July 2007 at UIA Gombak at 8pm. We gonna screen all the 10 finalists of BMW Shorties in our campus.. and its free..
